| Writing Gal- I'm Elsa Simcik. You may know me from my critically acclaimed first novel Tammy the Dog. And when I refer to critics acclaiming my work, I mean my parents and my first grade teacher, Mrs. Dorrington. They raved about the story of a missing dog named Tammy--who, by the way, just happened to be a boy. Their accolades gave me an idea: Maybe I could be a writer. And with that I became enthralled with the written word--writing fiction, essays, even a haiku or two. (Okay, there was only one haiku but it won me an award in fifth grade. Really.) Today I'm a full-fledged, card-carrying writer. Well, they don't hand out cards but as you can see, I do have a Web Site which is pretty legitimate. It just goes to show you that with a little bit of encouragement--even if it's false, exaggerated or altogether misconstrued by the encouragee--you can pretty much do whatever you want. Yes, I know encouragee isn't a word. That's what writers do. We make up words. Oh, and sorry to leave you hanging--Tammy the dog was eventually found. But he asked to be called Tommy. We're still working out our creative differences. Check out her work |
